Off campus access

eResources are accessible off campus for current SVC students, faculty, and staff.

If you are off campus you will be prompted to your SVC login (the same one you use for email or computer login.)

If you have trouble accessing any of these resources, please use this form.

Tutoring and more

Tutoring and writing services are available in the library tutoring room.

For more information please contact Learning Specialist and Tutor Coordinator Catherine Burns, or stop by her office in the tutoring room.

Interrupt us, please!

Though we librarians work on many projects in the library, helping students is our priority. If you need assistance (even though we look busy), please don't hesitate to ask, we're happy to help.

Computers

The library has 14 PCs and 2 iMacs available for use.  The library also has wireless Internet access; students are encouraged to bring their laptops. If you have trouble logging onto campus computers or printers, contact the IT department located in the Mansion basement. You can also contact them through the SVC IT webpage.

Other campus labs are:

  • Lower Computer Lab (444 Mansion Drive) 24 PCs
  • Hunter Computer Lab (456 Mansion Drive) 4 PCs
  • Computer Service Center (982 Mansion Drive/Basement) 8 PCs

Textbooks & course reserves

The SVC library holds many course required textbooks. Rules for textbook use are:

  • Textbooks can be checked out for two hours
  • There is no limit to how many textbooks a student may checkout at one time
  • Textbooks MUST remain in the library so all students have access
  • Textbooks cannot be taken out overnight
  • Photocopies or scans may be made from textbooks

For a complete list of available textbooks use the textbook link on the Home page of this guide.

Course reserves are materials that supplement course textbooks which professors ask the library to reserve (hold aside) specifically for their class.  The same rules for textbook use apply to course reserve material.

Printing & copying

The library has one printer located in the tutoring room. It prints b&w and color.  The printer also makes photocopies (same charge as printing) and scans to USB or email (free).

  • Student IDs are needed to log into printers.
  • Printing costs can be found on the SVC IT webpage.

Study rooms

There are three study rooms within the library that are available to students for group or silent study.

Study rooms are available on a first-come, first-serve basis; they cannot be reserved.

Food & drink

Food is allowed in the library.

Drinks with covers are also allowed in the library.

Please do not eat or drink while at the computers.
